Today we take a trip down south to the bayous of Louisiana to honor today’s national food. This thickened, rich stew warms a soul with West African, French, and Choctaw Indian cuisines mixed together. Gumbo comes from the African word for “okra” which is one of the main bases to make the gumbo that thick consistency. Gumbos usually consist of lots of seafood like shrimp, crawfish, crab claws, and lobster tails. Sausages and chicken can also be added to customize this huge pot of Louisiana’s own. Served with cornbread and a healthy scoop of white rice, gumbo would be the best meal for this cooler nights approaching us this fall.

We all scream Cannoli!!! The famous Italian cannolis are made right here in Jason’s Patisserie. Golden shells filled with the richest cannoli cream. After a little rest, we give then a chocolate chip bath and ecco, a delicious cannoli ready to be devoured!

This moist dessert is usually topped with sweet strawberries which have been sitting in a sugar bath or a simple glaze. Angel Food Cake is also very flexible with ingredients. Add spices into the batter to create a different dessert with the same awesome texture.

Traditionally, they’re known to be accompanied inside with mashed potatoes, cheese, sauerkraut, fried onions, meat or mushrooms. But these days chefs around the world are more creative than ever, dipping and dabbling with some new ideas. Anything in particular you’d like to give a go on the inside of these soft, delicious, carby love-bites???
